Our Spanish partner organization (TADEH: Spanish abbreviation for "Tecnologías Apropiadas para el Desarrollo Humano") was founded by engineer Jaime Aguirre.
Jaime Aguirre was trained by Wolfgang Buchner in 2014 and works full-time as a well builder and course leader for TADEH. Next to Wolfgang Buchner, Jaime Aguirre is now our most experienced trainer.
There is very close cooperation and exchange between EMAS and TADEH.
A cooperation agreement between EMAS and the SMART centers has existed since 2019. SMART stands for "Simple, Market based, Affordable Repairable Technologies".
The SMART Group, an association of various NGOs, runs and oversees the SMART Centers in several African countries (Tanzanisa, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Sudan, Niger, Ethiopia) and in Nicaragua.
The goals of the SMART Group and EMAS are basically the same:
By training self-employed well builders on site, enabling the families there to provide themselves with clean water, making it affordable and securing the livelihood of the well builders.
The well technology of the SMART Centers is the system of a cable well, the EMAS technology is a useful addition.
The first joint training courses have so far taken place in Zambia, Malawi and Kenya.
Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German NGOs established worldwide
So we are happy and also a little proud that Welthungerhilfe has implemented the EMAS concept in its global WaSH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene).
There is an official partnership between Welthungerhilfe and EMAS-International eV. Welthungerhilfe is currently running the large project in Sierra Leone together with EMAS. A large number of well builders were trained here in the company's own well builder school, who have completed many thousands of wells and latrines as part of some larger projects to date.
The well builders are united in the social business WaSAP (www.wasap.life), which takes care of the further training and order procurement of the well builders.

A cooperation agreement between EMAS and the SMART Centers has been in place since 2019. SMART stands for "Simple, MArket based, Affordable Repairable Technologies". The SMART Group, an association of various NGOs, operates and manages the SMART Centers in several African countries (Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Sudan, Niger, Ethiopia), as well as in Nicaragua. The goals of the SMART Group and EMAS coincide in principle: To enable local families to be self-sufficient in clean water by training self-employed well builders, to make it affordable, and to provide livelihoods for the well builders. The well technology of the SMART Centers is the system of a rope well, the EMAS technology a useful addition. First joint training courses have taken place so far in Zambia, Malawi and Kenya.
